I met a woman in a Golden Circle tour.

12 Sep. Today I joined to horse riding and Golden Circle tour.

First, we rode horse. I was a little nervous because there was very short instruction, but it worked out.

I met a Japanese woman in this tour. She said that she visited Austria for an art exhibition before she came to Iceland.

I asked the name of the exhibition and was very surprised.

The name of the exhibition was


'Ars Electronica'!


It was one of the most famous media art exhibition. The woman's name is Kyoko Kuno and she is a media artist.

My professor in my graduated school was an media artist, so I have some acquaintances in this world.

In our conversation, we knew that we have a lot of people who both of us know.

After I came back to London, I knew that I unwittingly appreciated her work several years ago.

What a small world!

Anyway, we became friendly, so we enjoyed Golden Circles and had a dinner together. It was so nice.

Snorkeling and Icelandic friends!

11 Sep. Today I went to snorkeling.

The temperature of the water was only 2 degrees. It sounds crazy. But, actually, it was not so cold  except my hands because of drysuits.

The water get into my gloves very easily, so my hands were very very cold.

It was so tough for me, but the view in the water was awesome.

After the snorkeling, my hands got numbs from this cold. I couldn't control my hands at all for a while.


Then, I went to a shopping mall. It was quite similar to Aeon which was famous Japanese shopping mall chains. I wanted to look video game shop, but it isn't there.

I asked a woman in information center where she bought electric appliances and went there.

 There was a video section, but there is only one WiiU software. I was sad.

PS4 is almost 75000 yen! Too expensive!

After that, I went to have a dinner. The name of the restaurant is "Mulakaffi". It was very local restaurant, so it was cheaper than other restaurants for tourists.

Then I went back to my accommodation and went to bed.

I awoke at 2 A.M to go clubbing because today is Friday!

It is interesting that almost all club in Reykjavík is ordinary restaurants in day time. They become club from mid night by removing their tables and chairs.

I went to some clubs and most clubs are busy. I chose a club which is not so busy.

When I danced in the groove, I was spoken to by a stranger. Amazingly, he was studying Japanese. And some of his friends who joined us after could speak Japanese because they had stayed in Japan for a few years. I felt Icelandic people are pro-Japanese.

We talked a lot until 5 A.M. and enjoyed music.

I visited an strange museum and so on

10 Sep.

I have reserved a tour which is horse riding and visit Golden Circle, but it was canceled because of bad weather. I couldn't help but change my plan, so I decided to go a downtown.

First, I went to Penis Museum. The quality of the museum wasn't so good, but some souvenirs are quite good as a joke.

After that, I went to eat a hotdog which is said that it is the best hotdog in the world.The order which I visited don't have a deep meaning...

On the way to the stall, I ran into women who I met yesterday on the tour. What a coincidence!

Anyway, I ate the hotdog. I'm not sure that it was the best hotdog in the world, but it was delicious.

Then I and the above mentioned women went Concert Hall together. It was very post modern building.

After that, we walked in a downtown and separated because they had to go back to their hotel for a bus to the Blue Lagoon.

After I said goodbye to them, I went to a restaurant which served soup bread. It was so nice. The name of the restaurant is Svarta Kaffi.

Then, I visited following places.

National Museum of Iceland

Then, I decided to go to have my hair cut. there was fascinating barber in a main street.

He drew these paintings.

He made this ship as well.

I left my hair style to the barber. This is the one. How do you think?

After the haircut, I visited some places again and went to a restaurant to have a dinner. The name of the restaurant is Laekjarbrekka.

These taste was not so good considering their prices.

I tried a shark as well.

The taste and smell were so so bad, but it was good experience for me.

I went to see glaciers

9 Sep.

Today I joined the tour where we can see glaciers. This tour is quite hard because it starts at a quarter to 7 and ends 23. We goes the place which is quite far from Reykjavík by a car. That is why it takes so much time.

My main purpose was glaciers, but views which we saw on the way to the glaciers were very nice as well. I prefer Icelandic view to Norwegian fjords. There are a few tall plants in Iceland. I think it make very unique view. That is why I think Icelandic views are more beautiful than Norwegian ones.

It was a shame that there is not enough time to take photos of those views because of group tour. If you rent a car, you can have enough time to to take photos, but it might be so hard because of strong wind.

After 5 hours, we arrived here( blue point ).

We had a snack there, changed a car and then moved to the river. We got on the vehicle which is mixed a car and a boat.

We went among glaciers by the vehicle.

We could also eat ice which is made 1000 years ago.

Then, we went to a sea where there are a lot of ice blocks.

After that, we walked on an ice mountain. Miraculously, the rain an wind stopped that time. It was a perfect weather for going up glaciers.

We can drink water which was melting glaciers like that.

There were 4 Japanese out of 7 in this group tour. I don't know why so many Japanese were there, but anyway we became friendly, so we enjoyed talking on the way to Reykjavík.
